Steak 'n Shake Restaurant Review

: The Illinois-based chain that started back in 1934 is so different from other burger joints that it deserves a niche of its own. The gleaming black-and-white tile persists, part of a color scheme that dates to the '30s, and it's still fun to pile into a booth with the entire family. There's no steak, but all-beef steakburgers and steak franks, along with triple-deckers, patty melts and shooters (sliders in local parlance). Chili is another tradition, and is available Cincinnati-style with spaghetti, diced onions and shredded cheese. The long menu also offers breakfast items, chicken sandwiches and salads, and sides aren't limited to fries. The hand-dipped shakes are decadence at its best, but if you're counting calories, know the fruit and yogurt parfait will please you just fine. At the same time, we'd advise diners to save space for the hot fudge sundae. Other locations.
