THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Steak 'n Shake Restaurant Review:

This shopping-center location was the first of its kind around here for Steak 'n Shake. The gleaming black-and-white tile is part of a color scheme that dates to the '30s. Alas, the carhops are gone, not that this location dates back that far, but it's still fun to pile into a booth or sit at the counter and watch the grill guy create magic with a spatula. These are flat-grilled burgers, thin and almost greaseless, available in various permutations. Chile is another tradition here, as is chile mac, also available in styles much like its Cincinnati cousins. French fries seem to have become paler over the years, but arrive, like everything else, scalding hot. Shakes don't come out of an extruding machine, either, but we'd advise saving space for the hot fudge sundae. There are other sandwiches and salads available, but why turn from near-perfection?
