THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Steakhouse at Azul La Jolla Restaurant Review:
With a sweeping view of La Jolla Cove and the northward-stretching cliffs, The Steakhouse at Azul probably could get away with effectively renting out its tables by peddling high-priced but mediocre fare. Instead, this La Jolla cliff-side spot reinvented itself as a savvy steakhouse featuring fine meats, chops, salads and a notable wine list. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the mesmerizing views of the Cove, while guests enjoy chef Carmine Lopez’s menu, which features USDA Prime steaks, Kobe-style beef, and fresh seafood and shellfish. The usual suspects like oysters on the half shell, onion soup, wedge salads and crab cakes dot the menu as starters. Peach-blueberry crisp or chocolate cake call out for dessert. The setting is relaxed and lovely at sunset. The Sunday Champagne brunch is another highlight.
