THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Straits Cafe Restaurant Review:

The evocative décor theatrically suggest a Singaporean neighborhood street scene, complete with clotheslines. Comfortable as it is, don't let it distract you from the fabulous food---a uniquely Southeast Asian blend of Thai, Indian, and Indonesian cuisines. One dish not to miss at Straits is the signature whole crab sautéed in a sweet and hot sauce. Appetizers are also tasty, whether they’re grilled oysters with a ginger marmalade; an Indian-style bread, filled or not, served with a curry dipping sauce; or satay skewers of grilled chicken or lamb with one of the best peanut sauces around. Among the noodle and rice dishes is nasi goreng, the national dish of spicy coconut rice with prawns and vegetables. Shrimp and lobster pad Thai is an upscale version of the classic dish with hints of tamarind in the savory peanut sauce. In another dish, lamb shanks are braised to tender perfection in a tomato sauce spiked with Indian spices. A long list of specialty cocktails is a treat, but if you prefer wine, be sure to ask which of the wines would best suit the eclectic flavors.
