THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Straits Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Straits’ menu works best as a small-plates exercise, although this is also a full dining venue. So at lunch, get a sampler of appetizers, including the delectable chicken lollipops. Sandwiches are fair, and the strawberry-laden salad has too much dressing, so ask for that on the side. Otherwise, it's lovely, and would go nicely with any of the soups. We like the roti prata (a flatbread) with yellow curry sauce, but grumble at the fairly undistinguished spring rolls and crisp fried wontons. Try the spicy basil chicken: creamy coconut-milk-based, the not-too-hot curry sauce bathes chunks of chicken and mushrooms, the whole enriched by soft noodles. For dessert, get the coconut ice cream. The wine choices must have been done without the menus at hand, not considering whether the wines go with the food or not. And most don't.
