Sushi 1 Restaurant Review:

The family behind Sushi 1 once ran the sushi bar on Main Street, then moved to this restaurant, where they can serve not only fresh fish at the sushi bar but Japanese classics like teriyaki chicken, miso-marinated fish, and several varieties of tempura. The menu features a few fusion-inspired dishes, like a Cajun-spiced blackened tuna served with tobiko, scallion and mayonnaise, or a Japanese-inspired ceviche with yuzu and jalapeño. The sushi is heavy on the rice, though it is well-seasoned and the fish quite fresh. In the summertime, the small dining room can get very crowded, but go for an early dinner (the kitchen opens before 5 p.m. every day) or reserve for one of the later seatings to get the sushi bar to yourself, where you can watch the master in action. The house rolls are always unique, such as the tropical roll with tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado, asparagus and caviar. Wash it all down with a bottle of saké or a Japanese beer.
