Sweet Elena's Bakery & Café Restaurant Review:
Never mind that this cute little café is juxtaposed with the area's many auto mechanics and body shops. Elena Salsedo-Steele’s food brings in folks from all over, whether for a great start to the day, a savory lunch or anything from a picnic-a-deux to dinner for eight (or more) to go. For breakfast, the cinnamon rolls are crispy on the outside with soft, cinnamon-laden layers coiled inside. Vegetable galettes are stuffed with creamy spinach, a little cheese, tomatoes and crisp-tender carrots. We like the mozzarella and tomato on a baguette for a light lunch, and whatever the soup is --- have some. Dessert tarts and pies dial back the sugar and let fresh fruit flavors shine; go for the local pie fruit of choice, olallieberry. Have a piece with a double espresso and leave satisfied.
