Chef Ryan Torpey is wowing diners with his fresh riffs on classic Italian and French bistro fare. Try the mussels bathed in a white wine-Dijon mustard sauce that’s touched with cream and sprinkled with fresh herbs. The sautéed mushroom and goat cheese strudel has become a Torpey signature dish. Another favorite: sautéed calamari simmered in a ginger and lemon grass bouillon and served over squid ink pasta. The roasted beet and goat cheese salad finished with micro greens and herb oil is on the short list for those seeking simple, high impact dishes. French influence shows up in his savory crêpes stuffed with duck confit, dried cherries and balsamic-marinated cipollini onions. The wine list is rich with choice sippers, from a baudy Spanish Condesa de Leganza Crianza to an earthy Territorial Pinot Noir. But to chase away the blues, the chills---or to set the stage for a night of fine dining---order the Swizzle Bourbon Cocktail, made with bourbon, ginger ale, Cointreau and a slice of orange.
