![]() : The Marina neighborhood embraces its outpost of trendy Tacolicious, but how does the eatery fare in the Mission District, famous for its authentic Mexican food? Just fine. In fact, some might say that Tacolicious is just what the neighborhood needs --- a slightly upscale taqueria focused on seasonal, organic ingredients with nary a burrito in sight. What’s on the menu is fresh and flavorful: a selection of tacos de guisado --- small tacos filled with juicy, braised meats --- such as traditional carnitas, as well as choices such as shot-and-a-beer chicken and guajillo-braised short ribs. Start with the chips --- possibly the best part of any sit down Mexican meal --- delivered with a selection of hot-hotter-hottest salsas. We also recommend the beet salad with grapefruit and pumpkin seeds, and grilled squid served Veracruz-style alongside a long platter of plump tacos. To finish, try the toasted coconut flan, or for a real kick, visit Mosto, the restaurant's sister tequila bar next door. Two other San Francisco locations, and one in Palo Alto. |
