Tamarind Ave. Deli Restaurant Review:
Restaurateur George Abou-Daoud, who specializes in hip Hollywood eateries and lounges, created this casual joint serving up deli sandwiches inspired by New Jersey traditions. Specialties include a slow-roasted beef brisket with smoked mozzarella, caramelized onions, wild arugula and homemade horseradish sauce; corned beef with sauerkraut and mustard on rye; and a meatball sub with mozzarella and spicy arrabiata sauce. Chips and potato salad are sides. The place also offers a selection --- nearly 50 dozen varieties in all --- of vintage boutique sodas, from Sioux City Sarsaparilla to Sprecher Cherry Cola.
