Tamarind Hall Restaurant Review:
Thai street snacks and salads are the main attraction at this casual restaurant cum sports bar in North Beach. Grilled northern Thai pork sausage is wonderfully dry and herbaceous, served alongside spicy pepper relish and pork cracklings. Bangkok grilled eggplant, with its intense heat and inviting textures of soft duck egg, crisp-cured bacon and mint, is alone worth a visit. A mango salad laden with fish sauce is playfully accented with crispy onions, mint and hints of lemongrass. Mains on offer reflect standard Thai fare, but are distinctly fresh for the price point. The full bar offers fun twists on standard cocktails, including the aromatic tequila-forward Siamese Dream and the boozier rum-based Thai-Me-Up and Full Moon Party. Six beers on tap and a small handful of wines round out the bar. Four TVs capture the day’s sports action.
