Magdelena Meza and Fred Garcia’s restaurant lies in the heart of southern Johnson County. Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, the couple follows a formula that works: serving honest, authentic fare at family-friendly prices. For starters, try the queso fundido and the chile con queso. On the short list of entrées: the chile rojo con carne de puerco (pork and potatoes in red sauce), the sultry chicken mole and the tangy pork in salsa verde. The tamales are as light as cornbread. Great house margaritas, too.
