The Tasting Room is the flagship restaurant of Le Quartier Français, a prestigious gourmet destination in the idyllic Franschhoek wine valley outside of Cape Town, South Africa. Diners embark on a journey of taste, guided by culinary storytellers in the most beautiful and whimsical of settings. The restaurant has no menu; instead, executive chef Margot Janse creates an ever-evolving African-inspired Tasting Menu sublimely paired with local wines. A creative team of chefs, led by Margot Janse, are constantly experimenting with new dishes, techniques and ingredients. The focus is on indigenous, African ingredients that seem other-worldly at first, until you hear their story told with warmth as the dishes are served with contemporary flair. Keeping things local, the wine list focuses on the Franschhoek region as well as nearby areas, such as Paarl, Stellenbosch and Wellington. The food and wine pairing menu is filled with surprises, and you may see a craft cocktail or artisan beer in the line-up.
