THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe Restaurant Review:
Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe is a chain of health-conscious, flavor-driven fast-casual restaurants that grew out of Keith and Amy Richards' trip to Greece and their 1,000-square-foot restaurant founded in 1998. The company received REAL (Responsible Epicurean and Agricultural Leadership) certification in January 2015, the first national chain to obtain the recognition, bestowed by the United States Healthful Food Council. The healthy choices focus on salads and grilled proteins. We enjoyed a grilled lamb gyro with a cucumber-tomato-feta side salad. Potato chips did come on the plate, but that's the one departure from healthy fare. Get a soup and dessert --- a homemade chocolate cake could get your attention --- if you want, but you'll be quite satisfied with just a main plate. There are a couple of wines and a decent beer list that includes some local brews. The kids' menu is worthy as well. Other locations.
