Fortunately, this restaurant group has opened several area locations, and the Sterling destination tends to be mobbed on weekend nights: arrive early, but you’ll face a wait, for sure. Ted’s focuses on lean buffalo meat, prepared many different ways, as one of its beef alternatives, and patrons should rejoice: buffalo, or bison, has far less fat but just as much flavor as its beef counterpart. Just to discover its virtues, try the bison short ribs, a Saturday night special that has a lock on flavor. Served in a rich barbecue sauce with a hint of berry undertone, the ribs perch on creamy mashed potatoes accompanied by green beans. We also enjoy the bison burger, and look forward to the bison meatloaf. By the way, the bison chili is piquant and lively, a fine way to kick off any meal. But bison is not the only game going: Ted’s offers grilled chicken sandwiches, beef burgers, and loads of hefty salads. Portions remind one that the great wide-open plains of the West inspire this menu.
