Thai Farm Restaurant Restaurant Review

: A stepchild, or perhaps cousin, of the Virginia-based Sakoontra restaurant, this flashy Thai eatery is so colorful that the décor alone might merit a visit. The main walls are splashed with an impressionistic Thai countryside scene of, of course, farmers and water buffalo wading around in rice paddies and tilling the fields with mountains in the distance. But despite the decorative flair, the restaurant is not the ideal destination for top Thai eats. We bemoaned the Westernization of its dishes, finding that the heat has been tamped down and the flavors sweetened to captivate the American taste bud. Our only real favorite was the duck salad with its multiple flavors and mild chili kick. But others seeking foods with an Asian gloss and not the profound taste levels of traditional Thai cooking will be pleased with the performance of the restaurant's kitchen. Service is a bit slow and the waiter may mix up the order, but he does so with a smile.
