With its historic wooden bar and black and white tiled floor, Thomas’ conjures up a gentler age in bustling Manayunk. Choose the bar up front for a casual bite, or head upstairs where fine dining and reservations rule. Executive chef Kevin Smith, formerly of Bookbinders and Smith & Wollensky, updates the classics, crusting veal meatballs with pistachios, adding the crunch of Marcona almonds to the Caesar, and giving grilled wild salmon an Asian flair with pickled plums and edamame salad. The bistro menu offers an array of sandwiches and salads along with a few items from upstairs, including the steak frites and a single jumbo lump crab cake. Brunch is a relaxed affair.
