THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Time Out Barbeque Restaurant Review:
Next time youre heading into the Keys, slow down when you reach mile marker 82 and look to your right. When you spot Steve Ehlers old Chevy bread truck under a Bell South tower at mile marker 81.5, pull over for some of the best barbecue in South Florida. Moved from inside that truck to inside the real restaurant just behind it, the tender meats continue to be full of the uniquely delicious flavor that only slow-smoking over oak, pecan and buttonwood smoke can impart in the long, black outdoor cooker (seven hours for ribs; ten for Boston butt). The moderately spicy, tomato-based sauce has a mild vinegar tang that effectively enhances the chicken and ribs. When that Boston butt is sliced and slapped onto a hamburger bun and served with molasses-sweetened beans and creamy coleslaw on the side, it adds up to one of the best meals youll ever get for under $5.
