Tom's Urban Restaurant Review

: Tom's Urban is divided into three areas: one off the casino, a more secluded dining room and a patio overlooking the Strip. Colorful accents of orange, aqua blue and wood tones contribute to the bright and cheerful ambience. Begin with the duck wings with hoisin glaze and peanut slaw. Portions are large, exemplified by the "Big Ass Egg Roll,” a colossal crispy flour tortilla filled with grilled chicken, rice verde, cabbage, peanut sauce and glaze. Breakfast is served all day, with out-of-the-box choices such as “Killer Chilaquiles” --- tortilla chips topped with eggs, asadero, cilantro crema, queso fresco and pico de gallo. Street tacos come in threes and may be mixed and matched with proteins of steak, carnitas, lobster and shrimp, chicken and pork belly. For those who can take the heat, there’s the pizza with white sauce, chicken, roasted poblanos, jalapeño and ghost chili barbecue drizzle. Burgers and sandwiches round out the menu. Accompanying the fare are 36 drafts, with taps from Nevada breweries Bad Beat, Big Dog’s, Great Basin, Joseph James and Tenaya Creek, or spiked shakes like Kraken-spiced rum and salted caramel. Finish with carrot cake with six moist layers of cream cheese, pecans and coconut.
