Trio Restaurant Review:
Trio is located just steps from the famous Casino towers and close enough to the water to hear the waves crashing on the beach. In warm weather, the restaurant opens a huge covered patio, a good recipe for al fresco eating sans the beating sun. Guests enter the dining room through the bar, which is especially welcoming with a long communal table where big groups can gather or new friends can be made. Equally relaxed is the menu: you’ll feel just as comfortable ordering a flatbread pizza or sandwich at dinner as you would choosing the twin filet mignon or baked stuffed lobster. The big mama meatball is a favorite appetizer. Among the entrées, the tortelloni and lobster is clever, using wild mushroom pasta and a limoncello cream sauce. Shrimp and grits is another fine choice. Hot fresh donuts served with a spiced apple compote is a festive closer. Pair your meal with a selection from the wine list; about two dozen wines by the glass are available.
