Tim and Liza Goodell’s casual-but-very-chic bistro is one of Orange County’s cutting-edge restaurants. The menu changes daily in order to allow Tim to showcase his artistic, daring and altogether scrumptious creations. He comes up with such intriguing dishes as the other-worldly lobster strudel layered with a special country bacon from his wife’s home state of Wisconsin, and an awesome veal sweetbread club sandwich made with the same bacon and rustic rotisserie meats. The dishes that made him successful at Aubergine, his first restaurant, such as melt-in-your-mouth foie gras, wonderful osso buco, and pear and Roquefort salad, are also served here. Besides far ranging à la carte choices, Troquet also has a nightly tasting menu that offers several of Tim’s creative dishes and longtime classics. Liza selects some of the best American cheeses, like tempting aged Wisconsin cheddar, for the restaurant’s terrific cheese tray. You’ll also find excellent homemade breads, appealing wines and highly polished and professional service. All things considered, this is a remarkable restaurant.
