Tru Grits Restaurant Review

: Located in Anaheim’s Hotel Menage in the shadow of Disneyland, this spacious venue uses wood, metal and the occasional barrel to create a warm industrial-tinged dining environment. The kitchen deftly addresses the amusement park demographic by offering sandwiches, burgers and a host of nicely executed contemporary classics, from starters like Brussels sprouts and the surprisingly addictive popcorn chicken to entrées such as red wine-braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes and maple glazed buttermilk chicken and waffles. The menu also devotes space to several Asian-inspired dishes like a bulgogi grilled cheese and the hearty braised beef shank noodle soup with pickled vegetables. Traditional desserts like crème brûlée and bread pudding are available at meal’s end. The wine list is small but serviceable, and the cocktail program includes “mocktails” for the kids including bottomless Shirley Temples and Roy Rogers, a bonus for vacationing broods. When you're done, sneak out to the adjacent pool area, which offers a prime perch to catch Disneyland’s fireworks display away from the maddening crowd. Park attendees looking for morning fuel can swing by for traditional, unfussy breakfast items.
