THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tsunami Asian Grill Restaurant Review:
Tsunami is loosely translated as tidal wave. Overlooking The Venetian's Grand Canal at St. Mark's Square, complete with gondolas and singing gondoliers, Tsunami serves its innovative Pan-Asian cuisine and tidal wave of exotic cocktails and saké throughout its stark, modern tri-level restaurant. Plants, a massive bar with colorful bottles and a cheerful sushi bar soften the ambience. The extensive menu features imaginative appetizers such as New Zealand green mussels wok-steamed with saké in a black bean garlic sauce, and flaming calamari---stir-fried baby squid in a fiery Korean tomato-chili sauce with julienned onions, and green and red peppers. We're partial to the Tsunami satay---marinated grilled chicken skewers served with Thai cucumber salad and a spicy peanut sauce. The pad Thai is a winner here, as is the smoked oolong duck slow-roasted with black tea leaves served with Mandarin pancakes and chili-plum sauce. Along with vegetarians, we like the braised Japanese eggplant with fried tofu, cherry tomatoes and bell peppers in sweet and spicy soy. Hearty eaters go for the slow-smoked pork ribs Kiam Sha, candied with Chinese barbeque sauce and served with crispy rice noodles and hot mustard dip. Top off your Tsunami experience with the chocolate-raspberry wonton.
