THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tuscana West Restaurant Review:
An old-fashioned restaurant with heavy traditional Italian décor, Tuscana West makes an ideal destination for local VIPs in the area, so keep an eye out for famous faces while you tuck into the very good food. Lunchtimes are particularly crowded, since the restaurant is so close to so many government offices, but the capacious dining areas---including a piano area by the front door---suggests a lavishness and old-world charm often stripped out of modern-day restaurants. The menu, too, offers much of the same pure Italian cooking you've come to love: start with the classic pasta e fagioli alla Veneta (soup of pasta and cannellini beans), the perfect entry for a full-bore Italian meal. Move through the antipasti---how about the mozzarella en carrozza, that luscious composition of mozzarella sandwiched in bread, deep-fried, and seasoned with anchovies? Then on to the hot and cold pasta dishes and meat- and seafood-based entrées, all ringing with Italian verve. Try the trout simply sautéed in a white wine and butter sauce and the seafood salad. Flavors are uncomplicated, unfussy and true to form.
