This swanky sister of the original (Northwest Portland) Typhoon! has a stylish décor that sets off deep booths and an orange Lucite bar. The menu is the same at both spots, including a daily fresh sheet that serves as a guide to the wonders of the sophisticated cuisine. Don’t miss the intensely-spiced Death by Asparagus. Typhoon orange chicken offers a fresh and citrusy twist on an American-Chinese classic. One of the more dramatic entrées is the savory fish on fire, which is just as described: halibut in a choo chee curry sauce. The dishes may seem over the top, but the subtle flavors and delicate touches are memorable. Typhoon! offers 50-some varieties of tea, as well as fresh fruit cocktails. There are several other regional locations.
