Veniero's Restaurant Review

: Originally opened as a billiard parlor in the late nineteenth century, this East Village spot is put to much better use as a café and bakery. The desserts range from several varieties of cheesecake (try the chocolate chip), tiramisu and cannoli to Sacher torte. Seasonal delights like pumpkin cheesecake are anticipated months in advance; the pastries, such as the fruit tarts, never fail to please; and the gelato is the perfect summer cooling off. Any season, rain or shine, the crowds waiting for tables spill out onto the street; and, as the holidays approach, orders for pies and cakes must be made weeks in advance. Even after you’ve had a cappuccino and a rich dessert, stop at the bakery counter for some goodies to go. You’ll regret it the next morning if you don’t.
