The owners of Ruby Foo's, Blue Water Grill and Dos Caminos salute the trattoria ambience of Italy with Vento, a casually sophisticated eatery located in the heart of the trendy Meatpacking District. Warm brick and wood components blend with glass and other cool materials and colors in this triangular space with two levels of dining and an outdoor café. You can’t go wrong with a small plate of gnocco fritto: crispy ravioli filled with stracchino cheese and sliced prosciutto. It hits the spot while waiting for one of the wood-fired pizzas that satisfy the neighborhood locals and after-work crowd that gather here. Other main dishes include a linguine verdi made with spinach pasta, chicken, peas, mushrooms, garlic and oil and a tender lobster fra diavolo.
