The Verandah Restaurant Review:
Amelia Island Resort’s 23 Har-Tru tennis courts host an annual championship event, but the rest of the year there’s enough tennis enthusiasm to make Racquet Park, and its casual, seafood-focused restaurant, an activity hub on the island. It doesn’t hurt that the kitchen has a knack for presenting the local bounty---whether that’s fat sautéed local shrimp served with a tangy mango chutney and a swirl of gingered soy, or the house signature baked red grouper enrobed in a crab meat crust and swathed in a ultra-luxe beurre blanc. Tableside salad service adds a little drama, the house version Asian-inflected greens studded with almonds, sunflower seeds and Chinese noodles, napped with a roasted sesame seed dressing. Not surprisingly, kids are well attended to, with their own menu and an eye-popping finale “mud pie,” its chocolate ice cream spiked with just the right amount of adult-luring Kahlúa, brandy and Tia Maria.
