THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Larchmont Grill Restaurant Review:
Larchmont Grill occupies a lovingly restored Craftsman home. The cozy, inviting atmosphere is reinforced with candlelit, linen-clad tables and a prominent brick fireplace, while another art-filled room lies upstairs. Both levels offer verandas for good weather. On the menu, American comfort cuisine is gently enhanced with sophisticated elements and classic technique. You might begin with Chesapeake Bay crab cakes, pan-fried and served atop a salad of frisée, cherry tomatoes, apple and fennel, or the house specialty mac ‘n’ cheese baked in a sauce of cheddar, Parmesan and Velveeta. Lighter on the palate are “dueling tartares” --- tuna in a lime-ginger-soy vinaigrette and salmon in a lemon-shallot treatment. Among entrées are braised short ribs with garlic mashed potatoes, five-spiced ahi in a miso-ginger vinaigrette, and roasted meatloaf with wild mushroom gravy. Vegetarians can feel at ease with pappardelle loaded with root vegetables like parsnips, squash and Chinese eggplant in a pine nut pesto. The eclectic wine list is reasonably priced, and for a finish, consider berry cobbler or dark cherry and chocolate bread pudding.
