The setting for this establishment may be more Westside L.A. than 6th arrondissement, but Lilly’s is charming nonetheless. We recommend a table on the woodsy patio; if one isn't available, opt for a booth or maybe a high-top table. The menu is very French, offering starters like duck terrine with onion marmalade, escargots de Bourgogne and a thin French onion soup based on vegetable broth. For entrées, we like the roasted Maple Leaf Farm duck breast in a lavender sauce, moules frites, entrecôte with béarnaise sauce, and the catch of the day, which was an enjoyable sole with julienne vegetables and lobster sauce over rice. Don't leave without trying one of the many tempting desserts, including a splendid tarte au citron and a reasonably priced soufflé. Lunch and brunch specials for $12 are also a bargain, and include soup or salad (or fresh fruit at brunch) and a choice of entrée. Entrées on the Brunch Special menu may include french toast served with two eggs and bacon or crêpes with spinach or chicken and mushrooms.
