THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Villa Pacri Restaurant Review:
Villa Pacri shares its space at 55 Gansevoort Street with another restaurant occupying the first level. Access is by way of a staircase in the foyer leading to the second floor. A tastefully appointed dining room with candelabra lighting, crystal chandeliers, cream-colored couches (that could be raised a bit higher in proportion to the table height) and a discrete bar area to the rear with adjacent communal table seating set a fine-dining mood. Razor-thin fish carpaccio topped with tangerines and a sprinkle of pistachios is delicate in presentation and taste, the pistachios adding a welcome touch of nuttiness and crunch to the otherwise silky texture of the fish. Meaty, moist grilled calamari lie on a bed of mixed greens, while pastas like pappardelle tossed with a medley of shrimp in a marinara sauce, and fusilli with sausage in garlic and oil are cooked to ideal tenderness and have nicely balanced flavor. For a sweet finish try the bomboloni, Italian-style donuts served with berry jam, melted chocolate and vanilla. A bottle of Domaine Tollot Beaut Beaune Clos du Roi Premier Cru will complement the meal, as will the Antinori Peppoli Chianti.
