THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Vu Restaurant Review:

Vu at the Jamaica Bay Inn offers views of the marina and beach from its outdoor patio and warm-toned dining room, which can sometimes feel a bit cold from all the windows and cement. Chef Kyle Schutte formed his culinary foundation at innovative restaurant ONE. midtown kitchen in Atlanta; later acting as executive of Charlotte’s XO Restaurant and Lounge before making his move out west. His menu of progressive comfort food fuses his creativity with his passion for local and sustainable ingredients. We encourage you to try the fresh and simple yet beautifully prepared hamachi crudo, chicken-fried watermelon with pickled rind or the green curry Thai mussels presented individually on spoons. A caprese salad is reconstructed with balsamic-injected cherry tomatoes and basil-infused mozzarella. Entrées might include Omaha beef tenderloin with butter-whipped purple potatoes and asparagus, and wild Australian kingfish enhanced with herbs de provence and accompanied by saffron fingerling potatoes, wilted beet greens and beet broth. Desserts continue the creative trend with buttermilk panna cotta with liquid nitrogen Coca Cola and carbonated blackberries, or you can keep it more down-to-earth with the warm apple tart. Cap the night off with their signature Kingston cocktail, made with Appleton Estate rum, pomegranate, Kahlua, Luxardo, pineapple juice, guava purée and Mandarin. Happy hour is on weekdays from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. and features $6 wines and well drinks and small plates priced at $2 (housemade BBQ chips), $5 (risotto croquettes) and $8 (sea scallop with pork belly and curry-white chocolate).
