THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Watatsumi Restaurant Review:

In case you wanted to know, Watatsumi is a mythological sea god. It might seem an odd name for a restaurant, but this is an eatery for surprises, the first of which is its location. It’s in the Club Quarters Hotel, a rather grand building off Trafalgar Square used by various institutions. The room is large and impressive with marble pillars and blue panels and a sushi bar at one end. The executive chef, who has cooked at Zuma and Roka, uses top ingredients with skill and adds exciting touches without changing the classic Japanese style. The sushi bar offers sashimi and nigiri sushi, maki and tamaki rolls plus a good selection of tartares and tataki dishes. Ask the knowledgeable staff for help so you can savor the best: a miso soup; crisp tempura baby prawns; beef fillet with wasabi pepper sauce; marinated duck with spicy kumquat compote; prawns and lobster. It’s all beautifully presented and at this level of cooking, is a good value. Bento lunch £14.50. Pre- and post-theater menu with glass of house wine, 2 courses £19.50, 3 courses £25.50.
