Water Grill Restaurant Review

: Situated mere steps from South Coast Plaza and Costa Mesa fine arts venues like the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, this sprawling venue’s prime location appeases shoppers and cultural aficionados. The enormous space certainly provides them ample area to find a seat, whether they want to grab a craft cocktail at the retractable roof-adorned lounge, enjoy fresh oysters at the raw bar or nestle into the subtly maritime-themed main dining room to polish off a well-composed tower of clams, crab, lobster, periwinkles and other seafaring delights. Executive chef Oscar Ledesma utilizes the restaurant’s connection to deeply trusted seafood purveyors to supply the menu with a host of expected entrées like Chilean sea bass and wild eastern sea scallops and uniquely intriguing fare such as live local spiny lobster and farmed Ecuadorian shrimp and grits. Brittany Dover sole is available among a nice selection of oven-roasted whole fish. Those devoted to turf can order the split-bone cowboy rib-eye. The well-stocked wine list boasts a globally-fueled array of reds and whites ideal for seafood pairings. Caramel bread pudding highlights the desserts. On the weekends, guests can order up a Champagne flight and dig into brunch items like farmed Atlantic salmon hash.
