Downtown San Jose can count its fair share of 49ers history and much of it can be felt in the historic saloon of this Texas-style barbecue joint with Caribbean leanings. At happy hour a collegiate crowd rims the century-old mahogany bar sipping Red Stripes or margaritas while watching a game on the big screen TV. The menu focuses on Texas favorites, from smoked ribs to barbecue brisket paired up with brown sugar-kissed baked beans. Piquant jerk chicken, coco shrimp and even some salads find their place amongst the popular dishes. Later in the evening, the tables are cleared away to make room for a dance floor: live entertainment is featured nightly, ranging from Industrial bands to house DJ's.
