THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Woodlands Restaurant Review:

Restaurants serving vegetarian Indian food have proliferated in the metro area recently, and no wonder. When you can sit down to a lavish spread with truly flavorful food—hold the meat—you've got to know that there will be a willing audience, Indian or Western. Woodlands has three sites, and although not each is equally as good, this Gaithersburg restaurant tales vegetarian cooking up several notches. We enjoyed the Sunday buffet—the restaurant offers a lunch buffet daily—though were thwarted from ordering off the menu. The kitchen is only cooking for the buffet, said the waiter. But there was certainly enough to satisfy both curiosity and appetite, starting with small, puffy poori breads, hollowed and ready for a vegetable filling. Vegetable curries, white rice, seasoned chickpeas, a luscious eggplant bartha, and hot paratha bread helped to secure a place in our hearts. But, we wondered, how much happier we would have been with the South Indian Thali?
