The Woodlot Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: In the spot where VYNL laid claim for many years, The Woodlot reaches out to locals and theatergoers alike with a meandering menu of international comfort food. The room exudes warmth with rough wood walls and closely set wood tables and booths. Diners all seem to be from the neighborhood, as conversation is lively at the bar as well as at the tables.

Likes: Cozy choice for pre- or post-theater dining.
Dislikes: Tables are very close together.

Food & Drinks: An artisanal cocktail list follows the vogue of mixing multiple ingredients and textures in each glass, and the craft beer is pure Americana. Even the pickiest eater will find something to choose from on the largely small-plate menu. Try the crispy shrimp spiked with sesame seeds and citrus mayo, or the generously portioned fried Brussels sprouts finished with Caesar dressing. “Big plates” of General Tso’s chicken, Scottish salmon or ahi tuna poke are there for the hungriest. But if you prefer something more New York-centric, try chef Jason Neroni's oversized burgers or his five deep dish pizzas --- the Godzilla with its four-meat and double cheese topping lives up to its name. A dozen wines by the glass span the globe and include two Italians on tap.
