Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the venue where food is an afterthought; until Yak & Yeti Restaurant, there was no table-service dining inside the theme park (Rainforest Café is at the entrance). And even Yak & Yeti offers walk-up windows for a quickie meal of fried rice or crispy honey chicken. But it’s worth it to head inside and order a real meal, relaxing amid the elaborate Asian artifacts and antiques. For starters, the menu offers five varieties of chilled saké and nine imported beers from Thailand, India, Japan, Singapore and China. You can make a meal of the appetizers such as wok-fried green beans, pork egg rolls, wonton soup and steamed mussels in lemon grass broth. You’ll find the ubiquitous stir-fried beef and broccoli, tempura shrimp and lo mein, but don’t miss the maple tamarind chicken, duck with Anandapur glaze and traditional Vietnamese pho. That long line for nearby Expedition Everest won’t seem nearly so daunting after a respite in this eatery.
