Yami Sushi & Hibachi Restaurant Review:

Yami Sushi has purveyed sushi and other Japanese fare to the Emory/Decatur area for more than a decade, a success story more explained by its delivery service than by anything having to do with outstanding quality. The softly lit space, spotted with prints and other culturally suggestive items here and there, is quiet and intimate --- another feature that keeps it going. Classical music on the sound system doesn't hurt either. Lots of sushi options at reasonable prices must be carefully considered, and we suggest the scallop, crab and sweet shrimp among the better items. Vegetables (zucchini, onion, pepper and a bit of carrot) that accompany the overcooked and largely flavorless proteins are the best feature of the hibachi preparations. Tonkatsu, udon, tempura and yakitori also are offered, and there are goyza and other nibbles for small bites or appetizers. Ramen, made with ordinary pasta rather than with ramen noodles, nonetheless packs decent flavor. Choose from saké, beer or tea, but no spirits. There is no dessert. Delivery with a minimum $12 order keeps the place hopping to nearby university dorms.
