THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Zen Sushi Restaurant Review

: Located a couple miles from its original Costa Mesa digs, this fittingly named restaurant found in the middle of Balboa Island’s commercial area has a quiet, uncomplicated atmosphere that stands out among the party vibe that tends to dominate this particular strip of land. The mood sets an ideal stage for sushi master "Jinu" to work his skills behind the sushi bar, as he creates delicate, flavorful bites using fresh ingredients culled from trusted purveyors. Order the omakase and be treated to dishes like halibut lightly touched with lemon or spot prawns accompanied with their crunchy, fried heads. You can also order from an array of specialty rolls, bento boxes and mains such as the hibachi salmon. Finish your meal with tempura ice cream, one of the whimsical desserts. A solid list of saké includes several fruit selections --- think strawberry and pineapple; try them mixed together. Additionally, the restaurant offers a few kid-friendly options for those seeking an adventurous family meal.
