Ziziki's Restaurant Review:
Ziziki's is nicely decorated in a minimalist style, with a striking wood bar and a separate domain across the courtyard complete with its own bar---you can leave the doors open and let people spill out to mingle around the fountain, or shut them for total privacy. Traditional Greek dishes are prepared with a contemporary sensibility and a deft hand. Start with at least one round of Ziziki bread, homemade pita broiled with a light cheese topping and served with a zippy cucumber-yogurt sauce; and the crispy fried calamari. Pastitsio, the Greek version of lasagna, is always a winner here---chopped lamb mixed with tomatoes and herbs, then baked with pasta and topped off with a creamy dollop of béchamel sauce, rich enough for two to split. The rack of lamb is a specialty hard to pass up as well; it's marinated with fresh rosemary, garlic and Grecian herbs and topped with a red wine sauce, served with a side of herbed mashed potatoes. Finish with the baklava ice cream cake, a killer concoction layering homemade baklava and vanilla bean ice cream, then drizzled with honey.
