Manhattan is the theme-restaurant capital, and Zodiac, with its astrological-sign motif and totally cosmic connections, could have been transplanted straight from TriBeCa. Dim lighting, sensual drapery, ambient music and muted acoustics lend the air of an illicit romance. The menu, which changes often, is small, but the portions most definitely are not. One visit yielded a salad with an abundance of grilled baby octopus in a tasty vinaigrette. Most striking about the food here is the skilled and deliberate contrast of textures. Each dish, like a constellation, is made up of several stars.
