THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED ZuZu's Petals Restaurant Review:

David Slay, one of St. Louis' favorite chefs, continues to commute between here and Los Angeles after leaving his post at the Seven Gables Inn. Out here in Clayton, the crowd is calmer, but no less appreciative of his talents. The name of the restaurant is taken from the character in It's a Wonderful Life, and this part of Kirkwood has the small-town feel of that James Stewart classic. The building is the former Jeremiah's, considerably re-done, with a bar and live music in front and a cheerful crowd, only some of who are pre- or post-prandial. Slay's food here is devoted to his updated versions of American classics like roast chicken with Gorgonzola-mashed potatoes or pork loin with apples. There's a generous list of red meat, and plenty of options for more exotic dining as well. You'll find lots of multigenerational groups as well as other sorts of celebrations, but this isn't a formal-feeling sort of place. The décor is minimalist, although you'll notice---yes---petals strewn about on some of the horizontal surfaces. We strongly suggest reservations---this spot has taken off with a bang.
