A bottle of Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyards Decadencia Dessert Wine, our wine of the week

Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyards
Decadencia Dessert Wine

Temecula, CA

Wilson Creek is a family-owned wine estate in Southern California's Temecula region. Founded in 1996, the winery farms over 70 acres of vines over diverse terrain. Currently, the winery bottles four sparkling wines, Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Malbec and four different dessert wines including Decadencia. Made from Old Vine Zinfandel blended with a touch of natural chocolate, Decadencia makes a unique finish to a romantic meal. If you're still looking for a Valentine's surprise, a bottle of this beautifully packaged Zin may just fit the bill. Its aromas boast many of the classic cherry and berry Zinfandel notes along with heavier aromas of chocolate and espresso. Although it is sweet on the palate, there is a backbone of berry acidity to add structure. Its flavors are a surprising burst of vanilla and chocolate. In fact, its flavor is not dissimilar to a vanilla cream truffle. Although it is not a wine for everyone, for those who enjoy finishing their meal with chocolate, it would make a nice accompaniment to almost any chocolate dessert from flourless chocolate cake with a cherry sauce to simple, dark chocolate truffles.
