Sagrantino Grape Varietal Definition
Sagrantino is a red grape varietal native to Italy’s Umbria region. Most Sagrantino is grown in the village of Montefalco, but the grape is also grown in California and Australia.
Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG wines are made entirely from this grape and must be aged for at least 29 months. An incredibly tannic wine resulting in an inky, black-colored liquid, it typically displays red fruit aromas and a dry, full-bodied mouthfeel.
