This Brut Nature covers only 24 acres and the vineyards, all estate and located in Cumières, are cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics, virtuous viticulture that preserves the character of this terroir. Twenty three percent of the must was vinified in oak and the wine did not undergo a malolactic fermentation. The dosage is 0g/L.

The wine has a pale, yellow color and a fine, persistent effervescence. The bouquet opens up with white peach, orange blossom, apple and spices. The palate is generous and refined, revealing peach, wet stone, lemon zest and well-tamed acidity, all evolving to a long, stylish finish.

Co-founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards has spent almost forty years establishing itself as one of California’s best producers of premier wines. From its modest inaugural vintage of a few hundred cases of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1978 to its addition of Sauvignon Blanc in 1982, Duckhorn Vineyards has created a tradition of quality and excellence that continues today. Gradually, other brands were created under the Goldeneye, Paraduxx, Migration, Canvasback and Calera labels with the final addition of Decoy sparkling wines.

Fine bubbles emerge in the light golden liquid. The nose shows white peach, lemon zest and white flower blossom with a touch of vanilla. The palate offers delicate fruit flavors balanced by juicy acidity.

Located in the heart of Chablis, La Chablisienne is a cooperative winery established in 1923 and owned by a collection of 270 winegrowing families. La Chablisienne’s exceptional vineyard holdings have a storied history, rooted in a sense of community and innovation. Celebrating its 100th anniversary this month, La Chablisienne remains grower-owned, without the involvement of any financial institution. During World War II, the winery was run by women and flourished under their stewardship. Today, the cooperative’s vineyard holdings total 2,880 acres and they produce 25% of the wine made in Chablis. The wine label was redesigned in 2020 by Louis Vuitton calligrapher Nicolas Ouchenir.

A golden yellow color is displayed in the glass. The nose is subtle with hints of citrus, white flowers, apple and mineral. The palate is rich and balanced by lively acidity, with a discreet finish of fruit and spices. Enjoyable now, but there is no rush.

Landmark Vineyards, established in 1974, focuses on producing single-vineyard and small-lot wines that express the distinct characteristics of the vineyards from which they originate. The winery owns and sources grapes from several vineyards in Sonoma and other notable wine regions of California. One of the key vineyards associated with Landmark is the Overlook Vineyard, located in the Sonoma Valley. It is the winery’s estate vineyard and is known for producing exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.

The wine is pale yellow in the glass, showing aromas of Meyer lemon, peach, baked apple and wet stone. The mouthfeel is creamy with layered flavors of lemon zest, pear, brioche, spice and toasted oak.

The Pasqua family has a long history in winemaking, dating back to 1925 when the first generation of the family began cultivating vineyards in the Veneto region. Over the years, Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine has grown and expanded its operations, becoming one of the leading wine producers in the region. Fun Fact: the name of the wine is inspired by the winemaking process – the juice spends only 11 minutes in contact with the grape skins, giving the wine its characteristic pale color and refreshingly light flavor.

11 Minutes is a light colored rosé with aromas of raspberry, rose petals and dried herbs.The medium-bodied palate delivers crushed red berries and a hint of grapefruit.

Christophe Baron, who grew up in Champagne, created Horsepower Vineyards in 2008 as an homage to his family history and traditional Old World farming techniques: draft horses were used on his family’s estates in Champagne until his grandfather invested in a tractor in 1957. Now, Christophe is bringing craftmanship full-circle, eschewing technology for four Belgian and two Percheron draft horses to cultivate 18 acres of vineyards with a connection to the land that has been largely lost with conventional mechanized farming.

The wine shows a bright ruby color. The nose opens with floral notes, strawberries, savory herbs and pepper. The juicy palate is layered with red berries, spices, leather and licorice. Silky tannins round out this intense and lengthy wine.

H.W. Crabb came to California looking for gold but stayed to become one of the pioneers of Napa Valley winemaking. He named his estate To Kalon Vineyard, Greek for “Highest Beauty,” because of the lush bounty it provided. Soon, his wines became renowned around the world. Over the last 150 years, the vineyard has shown consistent fine quality.

Today, To Kalon Vineyard Company is dedicated to crafting unique expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from this storied place. “Eliza’s” Cuvée is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, two varietals that best showcase the strength and spirit of this historic site at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains. The wine is named after Eliza Yount, one of Napa’s best-known early pioneers, widow to the founder of nearby Yountville, and one-time owner of a quiet corner of To Kalon, on Walnut Lane, that is now home to their coveted planting of Cabernet Franc.

This dark red wine has an intense bouquet of crushed blueberries, floral and herbal notes, and cedar box. The palate offers a medium to full-bodied richness with layers of dark berries, cassis and plum. Silky tannins round out the long, flavorful finish.

Although it only recently achieved formal recognition, the D.O. Montsant, part of a larger historic region, has a long tradition of producing wonderfully robust, yet elegant wines. The winery, Cellers Can Blau has several vineyards in the hills of Montsant. Each vineyard was chosen for its particular soil and microclimate. The blend of the different varietals with their distinct terroirs, produces a wine with great complexity.

This dark ruby wine reveals lots of ripe red and blue fruit, lavender, spices and a hint of smoke. Fruity on the palate with soft tannins, juicy acidity, all leading towards an elegant, long finish.

Tenute Rubino is a family-owned winery established in the early 1980s. This winery was one of the first to recognize the potential of the Apulian terroir as a wine growing region. That being, the winemakers at Tenute Rubino are experts at producing the famous wines of Puglia — Primitivo and Negramaro.

The wine shows a deep ruby color. The delicate nose reveals black cherries, flower petals and herbs. The juicy flavors are marked by ripe red fruit, a touch of spice and mature but present tannins.
