The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa, Hollywood, Florida - Hotel Review
All-Encompassing Escape in South Florida
The golf course property of The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa
Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Florida, is
one of the country's largest and most technologically-sophisticated
legendary beachfront hotel has even hosted the likes of Harry
Truman, Ronald Reagan, Jackie Gleason and Bing Crosby.
is one thing, but immense another. The atrium entrance soars
like a Gothic cathedral and makes the rows of palm trees
around a freeform sculpture in the lobby look like
potted plants. While being escorted to rooms, guests are regaled
with delights: a 240-foot infinity-edge pool, two outdoor
jacuzzis, a private beach, nightly entertainment, a 30,000-square-foot
spa, an 18-hole golf course and ten clay tennis courts. It becomes
obvious that The Westin Diplomat is a self-contained, state-of-the-art
1,060 guest rooms are a blend of luxury exemplified by
Westin's famous ten-layer "Heavenly Bed" and amenities
like granite-and-marble bathrooms with glass-enclosed showers,
plantation shutters that open on stunning views of the Atlantic
Ocean and/or Intracoastal Waterway, and in-room refreshment
centers featuring complimentary Starbucks coffee.
Westin Diplomat is also a conference Valhalla. Connected by an enclosed
walkway that resembles a railway bridge, the 209,000-square-foot
convention center includes four ballrooms
and the Great Hall a 50,000-square-foot multipurpose
ballroom large enough for indoor football scrimmages — while the hotel houses 39 conference rooms.
Dining options satisfy every taste: Hollywood Prime (a romantic,
intimate space featuring award-winning beef and a premier wine
collection), The Café (a casual atmosphere for breakfast and
lunch), AiZiA (offering a Pan-Asian contemporary menu), RIVALS (a waterfront sports grill), LINKS Restaurant & Lounge (located at golf location) and Splash Bar & Grill (poolside and oceanfront
service). The well-marbled rib-eye steaks at Hollywood
Prime were as delicious and tender as those offered at Peter
Luger's legendary Brooklyn beef temple.
The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa's golf course location is a universe within a universe. It's
located one mile from the 39-story main building and reached
by hotel shuttle. You're dropped off at an Italian-style clubhouse
surrounded by a tournament golf course, clay tennis courts
and a spa with treatment rooms. Spa clientele at the time inspected was evenly divided
between females and 300-pound football goliaths.
weekend at The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa is a unique travel experience.
In spite of its size, service was people-oriented; beaches
were ideal, and the amenities great. And where else can you see football players getting facials?
