THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED 5 & Diner Restaurant Review

: This 1950s-styled diner may technically fall into the themed restaurant category, but it's hardly on the same scale as its larger competitors that have become commonplace in Las Vegas. All of the nostalgic elements are in place: You're greeted at the door by a ponytail-swaying, poodle skirt-wearing hostess who seats you either at the long counter, where the burger-flipping chefs are in full view, or at one of the glittery red vinyl booths, complete with an old-fashioned jukebox selector affixed to the table (music from the place's neon-glowing behemoth blares). Water glasses are clumsy paper cones set in bright red plastic holders. Don't count on any culinary miracles expelling from the menu: This is strictly diner food. The burgers are adequate, though you'd expect more from a place like this, served, as are most of the sandwiches, in red plastic, paper-lined baskets. Comfort foods, including meatloaf, abound, as do milkshakes, malteds and the like. Slightly healthier fare, such as salads, are available. In the mood for gourmet coffee and a perfectly shmeared bagel for breakfast? Then go somewhere else, because this is place only serve plain ol' joe, pankcakes, eggs and bacon. Settle the bill with your server who will break a 20 dollar bill from the change belt around his or her waist.
