This is a somewhat surprising 'local' to find in such a well-heeled area, but it's clearly a great favorite with its regulars. It's small, only seating around 24, with pale walls covered in black and white photographs run by husband-and-wife team Vincenzo (who does the cooking) and Elain (who looks after front of house) Borgonzolo. The regularly changing menu offers simple, rustic Italian cooking, but of a standard which is a delight. Expect perhaps pasta e fagioli, and a robust stuffed pig's trotter with lentils. In a city where modern Italian cooking is capturing the imagination and the headlines, it's good to find such a family-run, straightforward Italian restaurant doing so well. There's a short Italian wine list, reasonably priced. Set lunch & dinner 2 courses £28.50, 3 courses £34.50.
