THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Alastair Little Lancaster Gate Restaurant Review:
Modern British- and Italian-influenced food is something that Alastair Little has championed for the last dozen years and in this, his second eponymous restaurant, you can get a feel for what all the fuss is about. The menu, which changes with every service and is therefore genuinely market---and weather-led, is full of enticing dishes---artichoke soup, seafood bourride, pappardelle al salmis, pecorino and pear salad. Alastairs food is so much imitated that a menu like this may not seem unusual in modern-day London, but more thought tends to go into its preparation here on a daily basis. Occasionally youll be served a clanger of a dish, but more usually its very good. The downside is the staff with a laissez-faire Notting Hill attitude and the room---plain and bare with white walls and plate-glass frontage, which is fine when the restaurant is busy, but rather dull when there are only a few customers. Set 2-course dinner £23.50, 3 courses £27.50.
